Many of my photographs are available as archival art prints and can be purchased directly through the Galleries on this website.
Limited Edition prints are offered in specific paper sizes and in strictly limited quantities. Each print is numbered and signed. Once the designated number of prints in an edition has been created, no further original prints of that image and size will be made. The image may still be licensed for editorial, educational, or commercial use, but no additional original prints will be produced.
Open Edition prints are also produced with archival standards but are not restricted in number. They may be offered in a wider range of paper sizes than Limited Editions.
The digital signature overlayed on the images displayed here is not on the actual printed images.
All prints are personally signed on the lower right corner before being shipped.
Every print shows the photograph as created, with borders for framing and signature.
Image dimensions refer to the size of the printed photograph, not the overall paper size. The paper itself will be slightly larger, with proportionally scaled borders surrounding the image.
For Limited Edition prints, the paper size is chosen to best accommodate the photograph’s proportions. Whenever possible, it corresponds to standard framing sizes, but preserving the image exactly as created is always the priority. No cropping is introduced. Borders are balanced, with the bottom margin often slightly deeper to allow space for the title, numbering, and signature.
For Open Edition prints, I pursue paper sizes that match standard frame dimensions as possible. In these cases, the photograph is still printed in its stated dimensions, which may result in slightly wider borders on two sides. This makes framing easier while preserving the integrity of the composition.
Whether Limited or Open Edition, the borders are an intentional part of the design. They protect the image area, support proper framing, and provide space for the title, my signature and edition information when appropriate.
All prints, both Limited and Open Edition, are made with archival pigment inks on acid-free, museum-quality papers chosen to complement the image. Depending on the work, this may include Somerset Velvet, Bamboo Fibre, canvas, or enhanced matte paper.
Each print is personally printed, inspected, numbered when applicable, and signed by me, James Cook. Prints are never outsourced except when the smaller dimension exceeds 24 inches. In those instances, a trusted fine art printer produces the work under my direction using the same archival standards. Regardless of size, I personally inspect, sign, and authenticate each print, which includes a certificate of authenticity.
Prints are made from optimized digital master files that reflect the vision I had when creating the photograph. Please note that color and contrast may vary slightly from what you see on your screen.
With proper care, these prints will retain their color and tonal quality for at least 75 years. To preserve their depth and contrast, avoid displaying them in direct, continuous sunlight.
Every print I release is produced with the same guiding principle: integrity. Each photograph is shown in its original proportions—never cropped or altered to fit a paper size. Limited Editions are carefully sized to reflect the image’s natural dimensions, while Open Editions may be offered in frame-friendly formats for convenience, always without compromising the composition.
My goal is to provide collectors with prints that are archival, beautiful, and true to the vision behind the photograph.
