Slideshow - Have camera, will travel. Never a studio involved

The phone would ring, an editor needed someone photographed for a story. Sometimes no arrangements with the subject had been made. Sometimes it was to be done in an unexpected place. Sometimes they needed the film Fed-Exed by the end of the day. "Can you do it?"

People were always my favorite subject, no matter their walk of life. Sometimes I was under bridges with the homeless, stepping into someone's home, or getting some executive away from the desk to create an image with a bit of fun it it.

 

Presidents and also-rans

Slideshow - Those who sought to lead us and sometimes did.

Events with Presidents or candidates tended to be huge public events. Sometimes the press had special access, other times we were just a part of the crowd. Once in a while we had close, fairly personal access. Regardless, we were expected to get the photo.

 

Wounded Knee, South Dakota

Over a six year span, my cameras and I were warmly received into many homes and lives in Wounded Knee, South Dakota on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

As a working member of a free press, I often covered free speech, doing my best to be free of bias.
