Weeks of travel through Norway and Sweden provided numerous visual opportunities as well as a huge task of reviewing them. Below are the first that have been selected and processed for offering as art prints.
More to come…
Nærøyfjord, Norway Entering Nærøyfjord; an arm of the Aurlandsfjord, which is itself an arm of the Sognefjord was one of my favorite scenes. Anyone who has seen the giant sequioas, Grand Canyon, the Eiffel Tower, or Norway's fjords knows how inadequately any image can convey the size. You just can't believe how big they are in reality.

Sundsvall, Sweden Sundsvall, Sweden burned for the fourth time in 1888. Timber barons rebuilt the city in Renaissance Revival and Art Nouveau style, using stone to make it forever fireproof. The city center consists of a stunning concentration of those buildings, many showing their age, many others undergoing restoration.

Hopperstad Stave Church One of Norway's oldest, the Hopperstad stave church in Vik, was built around 1130. A stave church is one built with vertical beams. Dragons' heads at the roof peaks, wooden shingles reminiscent of scales, and other mythological symbolism represent the cultural blending of Norse beliefs and Christianity when Norwegians weren't fully prepared to abandon their old gods.
